Who can apply
About you
- The current FY2026 DCHA plan says the original Homeownership Assistance Program is implemented and ongoing.
- The household must be an eligible DCHA Housing Choice Voucher participant and complete DCHA’s briefing, counseling, mortgage, inspection, and approval steps.
- The employment requirement is at least two years, subject to federal exceptions for elderly or disabled households.
- Portability is not permitted under DCHA’s homeownership program.
- DCHA may terminate assistance if household income remains below the required minimum for more than 12 months.

- The required down payment is 3% of the purchase price, with at least 1% from the family’s personal resources.
