Freddie Mac Appoints Pamela Perry as Vice President of Single-Family Equitable Housing

By

Pamela Perry has been appointed Vice President of Single-Family Equitable Housing at Freddie Mac. With 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Perry brings a wealth of legal knowledge to the business. Perry has been assigned to lead the corporation's new housing equality team, to assist minority families achieve their dreams of homeownership.  '€œWith this new position, we are bringing a dedicated and distinct focus to address some of the most systemic issues we face in homeownership and wealth in communities of color,'€ said Donna Corley, Executive Vice President and Head of Single-Family business. '€œPam brings the experience, passion, and strategic leadership required to deliver on Freddie Mac'€™s mission to make home possible for all Americans.'€ Freddie Mac hired her in 2011 when she assumed responsibility for overseeing their fair lending program. Additionally, she has experience advising on financial transactions with firms such as JPMorgan Chase. The Single-Family Equitable Housing team is responsible for finding solutions to help minorities overcome the barriers to homeownership. Although discrimination in the real estate industry has been illegal for decades, many of these barriers are historical and long-lasting. Perry and the others will hopefully shed light on these issues and come up with solutions to overcome them. This can be very helpful for minority families to build wealth as well, as owning a home is one of the most effective ways to accumulate wealth. With Freddie Mac working to narrow the homeownership gap by helping people of color purchase homes, the wealth gap will also shrink. '€œI'€™m humbled to have the opportunity to bring an even greater focus to the solutions that address the complex issues communities of color face in attaining and sustaining homeownership,'€ Perry said. '€œBlack Americans face a significant number of barriers to owning a home, many of which can be traced to discrimination and disparities in access to credit. These challenges ultimately contribute to the widening wealth gap we see today. I am proud to be part of a company committed to taking on these important issues and I'€™m excited to get to work.'€ Corporations are putting in a lot of effort to close the homeownership gap, and Perry'€™s work is certainly a step in the right direction.
