(BENI) is a nonprofit community based organization that works to foster an environment where residents, business owners, and stakeholders feel confident to invest their time, energy, and money. We are a Healthy Neighborhoods and Baltimore Main Streets partner organization, as well as a HUD certified comprehensive housing counseling agency. For 31 years we have offered a variety of neighborhood services, including community organizing, homeownership counseling, small business development, asset promotion and school support services. Strong Communities for Life Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. is a community development organization that has been strengthening neighborhoods in northwest Baltimore for over 40 years through housing and community development, so residents of all ages can thrive.

DRUID HEIGHTS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORP.

Our mission is to cause, encourage and promote community self-empowerment through the development of economic, educational, employment and affordable housing opportunities. The Druid Heights Community Development Corporation (DHCDC), a non-profit organization, was established in 1974. DHCDC is governed by a 18-member Board of Directors that include political, corporate, and community representation. Its mission is to promote and encourage areas of community development and empowerment through numerous initiatives. The overall goal is to accelerate the revitalization of the neighborhood with self-empowerment, employment and economic opportunities all while creating a stable and safe community environment. Druid Heights is one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods with a rich historical background. The DHCDC’s targeted geographic area is the Druid Heights Community located in central West Baltimore; the community is bordered to the South by Laurens Street, to the East by McCulloh Street, to the West by Pennsylvania Avenue and to the North by North Avenue. The community is predominately residential and its homes contain large interior design with three stories and as many as five bedrooms. Druid Heights also has a large population of African American families and inhabits roughly 10,000 residents according to the 2000 Census. Over the past 33 years, The DHCDC has served as an ambassador in community re-development throughout not only Druid Heights but also its surrounding neighborhoods. By joining forces with other community and development agencies, they have successfully completed the rehabilitation and construction of numerous properties to create single-family housing for rent and sale. The organization has completed the new construction and sale of 35 town-homes and rehabilitated 83 units of multi-family rental housing. Partnering with family housing organizations, DHCDC has also implemented Housing and Development Counseling for homeowners to learn skills on owning a home and maintaining the home after purchase.

EASTSIDE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The agency began as a part of the Eastern Baltimore Area Chamber of Commerce the Agency a community based organization since its inception. Our efforts began in 1994 when due to economic declines in our area a substantial number of homes were unsold. Many homes remained on the market at that time for as long as six months. Our agency has assisted Baltimore County with its efforts to maintain and strengthen home ownership for the last twenty plus years. Currently, Eastside's focus is community-building and housing development in Turner Station/Dundalk, an Opportunity Zone that has struggled since the departure of the steel and ship-building from this area. Eastside's primary assignment with its two major partners, Baltimore County and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is assisting community members with improving household income strength and credit scores while, concurrently, ensuring that prospective buyers understand their right of fair and equal access to decent, safe sanitary and affordable housing.

GARWYN OAKS NORTHWEST HOUSING RESOURCE CENTER, INC

Established in June 1999 and incorporated in March 2007, the Garwyn Oaks (GO) Northwest Housing Resource Center is a comprehensive HUD certified homeownership counseling and community based non-profit organization. Our mission is ensuring healthy, strong neighborhoods by equipping potential and existing residents to obtain, maintain and/or retain their homes successfully. We equip homebuyers to purchase, and homeowners preserve and retain their homes through pre and post purchase homeownership education, counseling and technical assistance. We administer the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, a community preservation program in Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park communities in Northwest Baltimore City. (more) We enhance neighborhood appearance, sustain home value and strengthen community capacity by engaging residents in block beautification and building activities. We increase awareness and selection of Northwest Baltimore City neighborhoods by promoting our communities of choice.

HARBEL HOUSING PARTNERSHIP ( A DIVISION OF HARBEL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION, INC.)

HARBEL is a caring multipurpose organization that works to build and support our communities through service, advocacy and empowerment. We have been active in Northeast Baltimore for over 50 years. The Housing Partnership serves communities in both Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Home buyers should seek services from the housing counseling agency where they are most likely to purchase a home. An outpatient substance abuse prevention and treatment center which serves adults and adolescents in Baltimore City and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to help you reduce and eliminate the harmful effects from alcohol and other drugs. Our Community Relations program has the most far-reaching positive impact on all of our member associations in the Northeast.
